The UAE ranked 22nd among 31 markets in Arthur D. Little’s Global Electric Mobility Readiness Index 2026, the highest position among GCC markets, according to an Emirates News Agency report published from Dubai on September 24. The UAE received a score of 53.
The index assesses macroeconomic conditions, the electric-vehicle market, customer readiness, public charging infrastructure, and total cost of ownership and regulation. China led with 106 points and Norway followed with 103; they were the only markets above the report’s 100-point threshold for broad readiness parity between electric and combustion-engine vehicles.
WAM’s review of the report said electric vehicles represented about 9 percent of new vehicle sales in the UAE in 2025. It also cited approximately 2,800 charging points, including around 1,250 direct-current points and 350 high-power units. These figures are report estimates rather than a live infrastructure inventory.
