A 2026 tourism development overview from Emirates News Agency highlights major leisure projects advancing across the UAE. WAM reported on September 26 that Yas Island was selected in May for Sphere Abu Dhabi, a planned US$1.7 billion venue designed to accommodate up to 20,000 people and become the first Sphere outside the United States. Miral has separately announced more than AED12 billion of investment across Yas Island over the next five years. In Dubai, the approved Al Layan Oasis project spans one million square metres and includes a lake larger than 250,000 square metres, while the AED500 million Umm Suqeim Beach redevelopment is planned to add upgraded public facilities, walking and cycling tracks, a 38-metre observation tower and smart management technology. The beach plan targets capacity of around six million visitors a year.
