Dubai-based DP World said it signed two memorandums of understanding on 1 October with counterparts in Ogun State to explore a new deep-sea port and an adjacent special economic zone in south-west Nigeria. The proposed site would span 10,000 hectares and link port, logistics, manufacturing and industrial activity.\n\nThe agreements are preliminary. DP World's announcement does not confirm final approvals, financing, a construction start or an opening date. The company says the proposal could support more than 50,000 direct jobs; that is a forecast, not a reported result.\n\nDP World also says it has committed about $3 billion to port and logistics investment across Africa. That figure covers a wider portfolio in several countries and should not be read as the budget for the Ogun proposal.
