A solar-powered high-altitude platform built by Mira Aerospace, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based Space42, completed a 29-hour wildfire-monitoring demonstration over Fuerteventura in Spain, according to an Emirates News Agency report published on September 23. The ApusNeo18 reached about 16,000 feet and transmitted live high-resolution visual and infrared imagery to Telespazio Ibérica. WAM reported that the flight set two European high-altitude platform records. Further flights are planned during October to test higher altitudes and longer range towards Gran Canaria, subject to permits, weather and airspace availability. The platform is intended to add persistent live sensing to existing aerial, ground and satellite monitoring. The October campaign remains planned; its results have not yet been reported.
